E has two applications: Engagement and Experiential. These two words are buzzwords in the speaking and online worlds. Itâs not enough to just show up and talk. You need to engage the audience, to get them involved in some practice, ritual or experience. The more interconnected and sensory the experienceâthe more emotional the connectionâthe more the audience will remember you and sing your praises. Present a booker with some of the ways that you make it more than just a speech or PowerPoint presentation, and the more often you will get booked!

So conferences, conventions and seminars are a great way to get booked for OTHER conferences, conventions and seminarsâ¦People who are conference planners or organizers, people in the audience, other VIPs, or corporate sponsors all see you presentâ¦they may reach out to you, or you can gently probe for other opportunities they may know of. But hereâs the keyâ¦donât just fly in and fly out for your presentation. Hang around and meet people, get acquainted, build relationships. Conference leaders love it when their speakers are present through the event

If you submit yourself for conferences and conventions, it is highly likely that you will be asked to fill out an application called a âcall for speaker,â âcall for paperâ or âcall for abstract.â These can be a bit daunting, since they give you little latitude to augment the information they request, and you are often competing with hundreds, or even thousands of others.
