Mumbai, Feb 4 : Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Nana F. Patole resigned from his post here on Thursday evening. He submitted his resignation to Deputy Speaker Narhari S. Zhirwal, after a tenure of nearly 14 months in the august post.
The development comes ahead of the 57-year old Patole s likely appointment as the new President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, according to party sources.

Mumbai, Feb 2 : The Enforcement Directorate is questioning Maharashtra minister Vishwajeet Kadam s mother-in-law Gauri Bhosale at its office here in connection with the alleged illicit properties of her husband and Pune-based businessman Avinash Bhosale, sources said on Tuesday.
An ED source related to probe told IANS, The agency officials are recording the statement of Gauri.
Gauri s son-in-law, Kadam, who is a Congress legislator is also a state minister in the Maharashtra government.
Mangaluru | 7 arrested for drugs trafficking; cars, 44 kg ganja seized

Mangaluru, Jan 22: In a major crackdown on the drugs racket, police have arrested seven persons in two separate cases and have seized 44 kg ganja from them.
The accused were reportedly trafficking ganja from Bidar and Telangana. The operation was jointly conducted by the CCB cops following a tip-off and raids were conducted in Ullal and Konaje area.
The raids were conducted after receiving credible information on huge quantity of ganja being transported to Mangaluru city in two cars. The cars and mobile, phones were also seized.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, speaking to newsmen here on Friday, said that those arrested have been identified as Abdul Azeez (40) of Taudugoli, Moidin Hafees alias Abi (24), Vittal Chavan (35) of Sangareddy village in Telangana, Sanjukumar (34) of Bidar and Kallappa (40).
Married woman living with another sans divorce not entitled for protection: High Court

Allahabad, Jan 20: The Allahabad High Court has ruled that a married woman living with another person without divorcing husband will not be entitled for protection from the court.
Petitioners Asha Devi and Suraj Kumar had moved the court contending that they both are adults living as husband and wife , and so no one should interfere in their lives.
Opposing the petition, the state counsel mentioned that Asha Devi was earlier married to Mahesh Chandra and has started living with Suraj Kumar without obtaining divorce which is an offence and thus is not entitled to any protection.
