Somerset Open Studios 2021 set to be held in-person and online this Autumn In one of the largest Open Studios events to date, Somerset Open Studios 2021 presents work from more than 300 Somerset Art Works Members in over 200 studios and spaces across the county this autumn. Visitors have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and meet the artist, find out what inspires them and experience the working process- engaging with creativity at the source. Studios occur in a variety of unique situations and the event is the perfect opportunity to discover hidden locations and workspaces- in person and also online. For 2021, visitors will be able to experience and explore artists’ workspaces in new and different ways.

New grant funding scheme launched to boost tourism in Sedgemoor , aimed at  boosting tourism in the Sedgemoor and West Somerset areas. The new grant scheme is specifically designed to support small to medium sized businesses to provide a greater range of visitor products and experiences. Grants between £5,000 and £10,000 will be made available to businesses and organisations operating in the tourism, hospitality and events sector.  Businesses who apply are encouraged to ideas which improve the tourism offer the local economy and promote a ‘greener’ visitor experience if possible. Qualifying projects may fall into one or more of the following categories: Higher-spend customer markets

2021 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards finalists are announced The finalists have been announced for the 2020 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards following an extended 10-month programme. It’s the fifth year that the competition has been run, and it goes ahead amid unprecedented challenges for the tourism industry. Among the finalists are Burnham’s Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds who succesfully held the eat:Portishead food festival last summer. “It is an understatement to say that the past year has been challenging for the tourism and hospitality industry, with many finding themselves in truly desperate situations,” says awards organiser Nell Barrington.

THE finalists have been announced for the 2020 Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards, after an extended 10-month programme. This is the fifth year that the competition has run, and it has done so in unprecedented times for tourism. “It is an understatement to say that the past year has been challenging for the tourism and hospitality industry, with many finding themselves in truly desperate situations, said awards organiser Nell Barrington. We hope that the announcement of this year’s finalists will bring some welcome good news. The judges identified so many businesses who despite their circumstances have innovated, adapted and even reinvented themselves showing true excellence.”
