LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. – The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office K9 Division welcomed a new member who takes a bite out of crime – Roman.
Roman is a 2-year-old male Belgian Malinois, trained in narcotics detection and tracking/apprehension.
Deputy Austin Wells was selected as the next handler for the division several months ago. Earlier this week, Wells and others traveled to Vohne Liche Kennels in Denver, Ind. to select a new K9.
K9 Roman helps fill a missing role for the division. Earlier this year, K9 Jäger retired after serving many years in La Porte County. The addition of K9 Roman brings the division back up to full strength.
