The Circle of Indigenous Relations, Airdrie and Area (CFIRAirdrie) are launching their first community event on May 5, hosting an educational seminar about Metis history in the Airdrie region.
An online presentation will be hosted over Zoom from 7 to 8:30 p.m. featuring Lawrence Gervais, Regional President of the Metis Nation of Alberta Region 3.

Gervais said his presentation is going to be centered around the Metis Nation and its history throughout Airdrie and area.
“The focus of the talk will be for the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) members currently residing in Airdrie, citizens of Airdrie and guests from other communities to learn of the Métis footprint, to discuss the impacts of colonialism with Métis peoples in the west and to have further discussions surrounding reconciliation in the City of Airdrie.”
