groups like clf on the republican side are doing a lot of cool things with that money instead of just pumping it into tv ads which can have little impact down the stretch with all the noise out there. they re doing unconventional things whether it s door to door, direct voter contact, or mail or things that they can take off the hands of the traditional candidates. that can make a difference in a close race. some of these races are gonna go down to the wire. it s a tough political climate for republicans, but in some of these close races, things like that can make a difference. i think clf will have some success stories to show at the end of the cycle. dana: when i look at those, i think i should have been a media buyer. but i love my job. elizabeth warren, she s not on the senate judiciary committee. hasn t gotten a lot of attention, but she made some news this weekend. take a listen to her and what president trump said last night. it is the honor of a
mentioned. how would you break out of the noise? well, yeah, dana, my advice, which is widely ignored, would be that candidates spend their money on voter contact and get out the vote. they have their own friends and neighbors vote and it may be different than some of their ticket mates. so instead of putting another ad on tv when people will see a glut of them, spend your money finding extra votes. abraham lincoln said find them and vote them. that was the key to politics and still is. there s interesting races in wisconsin. paul ryan has decided not to run. he s held that seat in wisconsin for many, many years. a democratic candidates are iron worker randy bryce and kathy myers. among the crowded republican field, bryant steele is a frontrunner and also in the race, jeremy ryan, kevin
much put in place, it s like running a business. we have people on the ground, we re on 412 college campuses. we have people going door to door, we re doing a lot on social media. i think the right way to think about this is, you know, have we seen impact so far in the primaries? have we seen impact in 2017 in the statewide elections where we were active and where this kind of program was in place? and the answer is, voter to voter contact, conversations between american citizens, are incredibly powerful and particularly for people under 35, which is the largest age cohort in america, the most diverse age cohort in american history, and an age cohort that votes about half the rate of other american citizens. that s why we believe in democracy, we believe in the broadest democracy, we want to make sure people show up at the polls. i m going to begin to make the pivot towards 2020, we re talking about return on investment here, tom, and here i
yesterday speaking at cpac, blasting democrats along the way. remembering republicans not to be complacent before this next election. welcome back here, and good morning to you. i don t need to tell you democrats are motivated, what is the response to that? well, they are motivated. they thought they were going to walk away with the white house in 2016. it was a huge wake-up call, and we have seen them energized in the special elections. and we have too much that urgency, and we are seeing that. we have had more voter contact, they have had 500,000 new small donors, small dollar donors since the president trump took office. we have a past every fund-raising record. we have to keep that going, and i think vice president pence is right. we need that urgency going into these midterms because we have something to fight for. we need to protect america s come back. bill: so the money is one thing. and if the economy stays good, we stand a pretty good chance,
a former governor to run for senate or maybe your own uncle and the peek-a-boo came he s playing or seems to be playing in utah to run for senate, to campaign for orrin hatch s seat. what s going on? i m energized by the recruitment class that we ve seen across the country. i have to stay neutral as rnc chair, b we ve got josh hawley against clare mccaskill in missouri. and great candidates in indiana, west virginia. if florida were going to have a marquee candidate, i feel good about the candidates and what they re doing to prepare for winning senate seats. it s hard when incumbents step down, it makes it harder, but the rnc with regard fund raising, raising more in 2017 more than any other political party. that translates for us putting resources on the ground and getting ready to build out the ground game to keep the majorities in 2018. in terms of where we are headed into a mid-term, more voter
