Time and again, the Holder Justice Department has exhibited politically driven law enforcement. But its latest instance of lawlessness is absolutely brazen. Last week, the Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section sent a letter to the Florida secretary of state, Ken Detzner, ordering him to stop removing voters who are not citizens from Florida’s voter-registration rolls.

The conservative group Judicial Watch announced Thursday that millions of ineligible voters have been removed from voter rolls in the wake of lawsuits.

Recently, we both have drawn attention to President Obama’s bogus claims about the number of voting-rights cases pursued by Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department. A list of those cases, belatedly released to Politifact by the Justice Department, proves that the president’s claim was false. Both he and his Justice Department have been grossly exaggerating their enforcement of the Voting Rights Act (VRA).

Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit in July against New York City after it failed to clean voter rolls for years. The lawsuit, filed under the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), pointed out that New York City removed only 22 names under the federal law over six years ( Judicial Watch v Valentine et al.

The MOVE Act, like previous voting rights laws, was supposed to help military members exercise their right to vote. The MOVE Act, however, cannot succeed in delivering on its promise until it is fully implemented and enforced.
