Suspended Poverty Alleviation Minister, Betta Edu Released On Bail, To Report Daily At EFCC Headquarters

The Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, on bail.   SaharaReporters earlier on Wednesday reported that the passports of Edu and her predecessor, Sadiya Umar-Farouk, were seized to prevent the duo from fleeing the country as investigations continued into alleged fraud perpetrated by them.

Permanent Secretary Enitan Takes Over Poverty Alleviation Ministry After Betta Edu's Suspension Over Fraud Allegations

The permanent secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan, has taken over the affairs of the ministry following the recent suspension of his principal, Betta Edu.   Mr Enitan took over the affairs of the ministry after receiving a letter on Monday night from the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to that effect and following the directive given by President Bola Tinubu.

Young Progressive Party (YPP) has given President Bola Tinubu 48 hours to suspend the Minister of Interior, Mr Olabunmi Tunji-Ojo over his alleged involvement in the over N3 billion fraud in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.   The party made this known in an open letter addressed to President Tinubu Tuesday night and signed by the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Emmanuel Bishop Amakiri.
