The Alliance on Surviving Covid-19 and Beyond (ASCAB) has urged the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu to stop insulting Nigerians.    ASCAB Chair, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), said the minister should stop trying to claim she is innocent after a leaked memo shows that the she wrote to the Accountant General of the Federation, asking that over N585 million should be paid into a private account.

Tinubu's Humanitarian Affairs Minister, Betta Edu Defends Payment Of Public Funds Into Private Account

Dr Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has confirmed that she made a request to the Accountant General of the Federation, Mrs Oluwatoyin Sakirat Madein to send public funds to a private account, as contained in a letter obtained by SaharaReporters.  Speaking on the incident, the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister, Rasheed Zubair said the N585.198million payment for the vulnerable group followed due process.

Accountant-General Of Federation Confirms 'Inappropriate Memo' From Humanitarian Minister, Betta Edu, Says OAGF Doesn't Make Payments For Projects

The Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Dr Oluwatoyin Madein, has clarified that the OAGF does not make payments on behalf of Ministries, Departments and Agencies for projects and programmes implemented by the MDAs. The AGF who was reacting to a memo sent to the office by Dr Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, said the AGF failed to make the said payment and rather advised the minister on the appropriate steps to go about it.
