The province’s Stay At Home order impacting the Kenora-Rainy River region is over.
Our area is now at the Yellow or Protect level.
MPP Greg Rickford doesn’t think the most recent outbreaks of COVID-19 in the Kenora area will impact our standing on the provincial grid.
“We’re committed to keeping (Kenora-Rainy River) in Yellow. We would have to see a significant spike, and I can’t even tell you what that might be in order to change, but that’s not what we’re considering at this point in time at all.”
Two of the region’s First Nations are dealing with COVID-19 cases.
The Wabaseemoong Independent Nation northwest of Kenora has three cases of COVID-19, while one person has tested positive in Wauzhushk Onigum Nation near Kenora.
The Northwestern Health Unit hasn’t confirmed if these are part of yesterday’s update, which listed three cases in the Kenora area and two others in the Rainy River region.

Shannon Cameron said she was shaking upon learning that she had won the largest-ever Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation 50/50 jackpot on Wednesday.

“This win means a whole lot to me, I can be out of debt, I can help my family, that’s the main thing,” Cameron said in a news release. “Other than that, I can’t even process this whole thing right now.
