Norman Edward Fechtig

Norman Edward Fechtig, 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2022, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Erkman), sons Scott (Nancy Dykhoff) and Mark (Teresa Wilford), 4 grandchildren (Caleb, Caitlin, Nathaniel, Charles), one great-grandson (Garth), brother Allen (Mary Ruth Newlin), brother-in-law Ed Erkman and 10 nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents William J. and Nell (Hutchcraft) Fechtig and older brother C. William Fechtig (Francis Winter) and sister-in-law Jan (Rainey) Erkman. Norman was born in Carmi on November 15, 1936, and raised on a farm near Enfield IL. He attended several one room country schools in the Mill Shoals and Enfield area and graduated from Enfield High School. He later earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture and Master's Degree in Education from the University of Illinois. Norman worked for many years in the White County School system, serving as a teacher at Big Prairie, Brownsville and Norri

Alice Lila Dial

Alice Lila Dial, 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. Alice was born on March 25, 1933, to Harry and Lila (Schultz) Von Behren. She married William Stanley Dial in 1950, and enjoyed 41 years together until his death in 1991. They had two sons, Richard S. Dial and Bradley J. Dial. Alice was a homemaker, but also had several part time jobs throughout her life after her sons were out of the house. She was a very good cook and could prepare anything that Stanley would bring home after a day of hunting or fishing. Alice was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Carmi, IL. Alice loved this church and its members and was a very active member. She was an avid bridge player reaching the Master Level. She would travel to neighboring towns to play bridge. She also played bridge at the Senior Citizens' Center. Alice was a lifetime member of the Carmi Country Club and loved playing in the couples league, ladies league, and any tournament

Mary Louise Widick – McLeansboro

Mary Louise Widick, 83, of McLeansboro, IL passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, IL. She was born July 9, 1937 in Elkton, TN to Georgie Cathron (Whitfield) and Thomas Lawton “Pete” Gregory, Sr. She graduated from Murray State College in Murray, KY in 1959 with a degree in Vocal Music Education and then moved to McLeansboro, IL to begin her teaching career. She married Leland L. Widick of McLeansboro on June 16, 1963. Mary spent 42 years as a public school teacher. Her specialty was vocal music, but at times she also taught business and math. Relatively early in her teaching career, she completed a Masters of Education degree by attending evening classes at the University of Evansville. Outside of the classroom, she served in various extracurricular capacities throughout the years such as twirler, cheerleader, and color guard sponsor, co-director for high school drama productions, as well as other positions. After retiring, Mary continued
