CALGARY A Calgary man killed in a motorcycle crash on Friday is being remembered by friends as one of the kindest, most caring and generous, people they knew. Muhammad Ali Abid, 33, was riding with friends from Calgary to Turner Valley on Friday when he was involved in a crash on Highway 50A, near Gorge Creek, southwest of the city. RCMP said Abid s bike left the road and went over an embankment about 7:45 p.m. He was declared deceased at the scene. Friends says Abid worked as a consultant with Alberta Health Services and leaves behind a wife and two children, aged four and six.
RAWALPINDI: Three people, two of them brothers, were gunned down and two others injured in a clash between two rival groups at Dhoke Jujri Chontra here on Thursday.
Following the triple murder, tension gripped the area as police had been deployed to avert any further clash.
Police said two suspects, one of whom was injured during the fire exchange, had been arrested and a case registered against them. They said the incident occurred when some goats entered the vegetable fields of Sheraz in the village.
Waqar Ahmed, 27, Omar Abid, 23, and Ali Abid, 20, died on the spot while Usman received bullet wounds.
A federal judge in Cleveland sentenced Ali Abid of New York to three years of probation, including the first six months of house arrest, for bilking a Youngstown-area man out of about $50,000 on a fake loan.
Abid must also pay restitution of $52,000, but he will not have to serve any prison time, judge Donald Nugent ruled last week during a hearing.
Abid pleaded guilty in July to interstate transportation of stolen property. Abid’s age and more information on the victim were not available.
According to court documents, a co-conspirator of Abid told the victim in July 2018 he had secured a $3 million loan for the victim, but the victim needed to pay more than $100,000 in cash to finalize the loan.
