Sanjrani seeks ANP support for Senate chairman election - Newspaper

CHARSADDA: Senate Chairman Mohammad Sadiq Sanjrani and federal defence minister Pervez Khattak visited the Wali Bagh here on Sunday and met senior leadership of the Awami National Party seeking its support for the election of the chairman of the Upper House of Parliament. The delegation met ANP senior vice-president Ameer Haider Khan Hoti, general secretary Main Iftikhar Hussain and the party’s provincial president Aimal Wali Khan. ANP central president Asfandyar Wali could not meet the delegation because of health reasons, according to a statement. ANP leader from Balochistan Eng Zamarak Khan Achakzai, who is also minister for agriculture and cooperatives, accompanied Mr Sanjrani.

PHOTO: EXPRESS PESHAWAR: In a surprise move, a government delegation, headed by Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, visited the opposition Awami National Party on Sunday, to garner support for the March 12 election of the Senate chairman. The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf delegation met ANP Central Senior Vice President Amir Haider Khan Hoti at Wali Bagh in Peshawar. The PTI candidate for the slot, Sadiq Sanjrani, who is the incumbent upper house of parliament chairman, was also present.

Addressing a press conference at Wali Bagh here, he claimed that he had never demanded the ticket for his son, Ahad Khattak for PK-63, and said he was only interested in getting a ticket for his son to contest the Nowshera tehsil nazim election.
