LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - As the California water officials were conducting their monthly snow survey on Monday, Nevada officials were doing the same.

After several years of relatively disappointing snowpacks, there was no doubt that when hydrologist Jeff Anderson went to measure and weight the snow near the summit on Monday he was expecting big things.

They found 188 inches of snow depth, which is over 15 and a half feet, containing 73.6 inches of water content.

CalFire is urging residents to take extra precautions against a melting snowpack this spring.
