SPRINGDALE -- Arkansas Childrens Northwest will receive $25 million from the Willard & Pat Walker Charitable Foundation of Fayetteville, the largest single charitable donation in the hospitals history according to Arkansas Childrens president.

The money will be used for facility renovations and upgrades to clinical buildings at Arisa corporate offices in Springdale.

The nonprofit also helps children who have disabilities, traumatic brain injuries, or experiencing homelessness.

The Walker Foundation strives to bring "back the smile on many faces dealing with various issues of hair conditions," according to the organization's website.

Susan Neyman, chief development officer and foundation president, said the Walker Foundations gift will "guarantee our continued focus on education."

The Dauphin County Commissioners have awarded over $8.3 million to 151 programs and projects, with money available through gaming dollars.

The $8.375 million in revenue share funding will serve 151 projects across the county, saving taxpayers money and creating or preserving roughly 2,365 jobs.

During the holiday season, some parents don’t have the money to spare for a haircut and style. Kansas City barbers stopped by a local elementary school to make sure students look and feel good before winter break starts.

On Friday, some elementary school students in the Kansas City Public Schools district got a visit not only from Santa, but also licensed cosmetologists and barbers.
