NAGOYA, Japan (SIBC, Mar. 23) – The Solomon Islands delegation to the opening of the 2005 World Expo in Japan arrived this morning in Nagoya - the host of the Expo.
The delegation is headed by the Minister of Commerce, Employment and Industries, Walton Naezon, and includes several senior officials from the Trade Division, the Investment Division and the Solomon Islands Expo Committee.
The 2005 World Expo will see about 120 countries from around the world take part, including 12 from the Pacific Islands Region.
Solomon Islands has a booth within the Pacific Pavillion. Three staff, from both the Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau and the Trade Division had arrived ahead of the opening ceremony to set up displays within the Solomon Islands booth.

HONIARA, Solomon Islands (September 30, 1998 - Radio Australia) -The Minister of Mines, Energy and Minerals, Walton Naezon, says the Solomon Islands government is committed to major development of the nation s mining industry.
He made the comment yesterday at the opening of the country s first gold mine, Goldridge.
The project, located in central Guadalcanal, was developed by Ross Mining of Australia.
Mr. Naezon said the government would extend its support and offer a helping hand to other companies interested in investing in the Solomon Islands mining industry, adding that the Goldridge venture is a useful model for future projects.
