Increasing as the war goes on. the ground report is that the russians are pulling their troops out in the north and becoming more active in the donbas and there and the south will be where the battle is. yesterday thats what the rn battle will be so the weapons going into the battle are crucial. so it not surprising to hear the same song, give us more weapons. its not as easy as just handing over a system with an operational manual. these are quite complex weapons that often involve or require j...

North korea said that they launched their first hypersonic missile last year. they say that north korea has as recently as just a few weeks ago said that theyre working on new missile developments for war fighting. this is the trajectory that north korea was headed in. the context here is also important. the biden administration has not had any diplomatic contact substantively with the north koreans. they have made overtures, they havent been responded to, and im told that u.s. officials dont pl...

Behaviour, at this point its sort of overtaken by events. the first russia is assembling around ukraine really renders anything the us could deliver almost irrelevant in terms of the war fighting that could occur. it is unlikely to affect vladimir putins calculus in terms of the deterrence and if we get to the point where there is a ukrainian insurgency, russia is occupying large parts of the country, any marginal costs imposed on russian occupiers by ukrainian insurgents will be nothing compare...

Evidence of a continued russian buildup, including on the border with belarus so that is, russian troops in belarus on the border with ukraine, and these us and uk allegations this week of russian plans to essentially oust the elected government in kyiv. what about the us military assistance to ukraine. how effective are that? so i think it is an important symbol of us support but as a measure to effect russias calculus or behaviour, at this point, it is sort of overtaken by events, so to speak....

Which is at the bottom of the south china sea. china says it wants that plane whereas the us has a lot of technology in it. what can you tell us? >> well, the biden administration is obsessed with their multi trillion dollar transformative progressive domestic agenda. the last budget they submitted for defense was a real term, and next years budget will be worse. they want to cut hard power while investing in progressive projects at home. all of that is messing up the balance of power in the pac...

Germany, russia, ukraine. those four nations coming together relatively low level. i think that is the best path for a diplomatic resolution here. lets hope vladimir putin appreciates how dangerous this would be for him in reacting to economic sanctions and potential war fighting responses from the ukrainians. >> all right. lets hope so. courtney kube, admiral james, thank you very much. next, well go inside president bidens meeting next hour with democrats on the senate judiciary committee an...

Initiative board member. colonel vindman, i will never forget the day that you and ambassador mcfaul on this program, about six weeks ago now, predicted much of what has come to pass, tragically, in ukraine, and im eager to hear your thoughts on what the day held and what the coming days hold for ukraine. >> i think unfortunately, this was, for those that pay attention to russia, pay attention to russias war fighting that understand, to a certain extent, putins mindset, that this war was inevita...

Argue they have not been bound by them to begin with. how complicated is it if an american, i guess, gets killed in the war fighting for ukraine? >> very complicated. first of all, well, if they get killed its unclear whether or not the geneva convention rules will be followed in terms of reclaiming their bodies, and also potentially drags the united states into war, and if you see americans getting killed on the front lines and it adds a dimension, and in the event they are captured they could ...

Ukraine after this war is over. now, i dont think thats possible, because the russian -- the ukrainian will to fight is so great that, sure, russia will make some gains, but they wont be able to hold them because it will be guerilla warfare. >> lets talk about whats happening on the ukrainian soldiers side. if we look at the kyiv-controlled areas. it seems as though the ukrainians have been able to take back some ground here, at least make some progress. >> yeah, and thats not a surprise. i mean...

One person said, character above all, garrett. >> kristen, thank you. having three presidents in the front row alone is quite the tribute. general honore, what can you tell us about the lasting impact that general powell had on the military. particularly, i think about him as the singular person with so many firsts as an african-american leader in the military. > well, hes a general of our time and he lived the american story. son of immigrant parents from jamaica rose to the highest level of ou...
