Dumping snow for free at one of Edmonton's four snow storage sites could eventually come to an end as the city considers charging private citizens and contractors tipping fees.

As council begins budget deliberations for the next four-year planning cycle, the mayor and some councillors are already wanting adjustments to the proposed capital plan.

Results from the 2021 municipal election in Edmonton were made official on Friday.

Eight new councillors were elected to Edmonton city council Monday, including four representatives who defeated incumbents to gain a seat inside city hall.

It’s a stark difference to 2017, when Hamilton was elected as one of two female councillors.

Official election results will become available on Oct. 26 but with all polls being reported, winners have been called in all races.

Amarjeet Sohi, who will be Edmonton’s first mayor of South Asian origin, will lead the most diverse city council in the city’s history.

Ward Sspomitapi, formerly known as Ward 12, has seven candidates running for council, including the incumbent, Moe Banga.
