Jersey City Councilman Richard Boggiano, once the council’s most staunch critic of Mayor Steve Fulop, has joined Fulop’s ticket for the 2021 municipal election.
Boggiano, a retired police detective who prides himself for his independent streak, ran in 2013 and 2017, defeating Fulop-aligned candidates both times.
Fulop said in a statement Monday that he never met another public official quite like Boggiano, the Ward C councilman. He said having Boggiano on his slate will strengthen the ticket for the next election.
