They voted to award £10,000 to the Warminster Athenaeum Centre and a further £10,000 to regenerate the Central Warminster area. The decisions were made at an online extraordinary general meeting on Thursday, April 22 before the forthcoming local elections on Thursday, May 6. The money awarded to the £400,000 Athenaeum Centre refurbishment and redevelopment project is coming from community infrastructure levy funds and will help to pay professional fees.

Following public health guidance the library will close pending a deep clean after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19. A spokesman for Wiltshire Council said: “The library is expected to reopen on January 19 to facilitate the order and collect service and for people who have booked a slot to use the computers.” Cabinet member for libraries, Ian Blair-Pilling said “ We have followed all the correct measures and library users can be assured that it is as safe as possible for people to visit the library when we reopen.
