Simonet, a criminal defense lawyer in Washington County passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020 at the age of 71 following emergency surgery. Simonet had practiced law in Stillwater since 1974 and was a well-known and respected member of the community. (Courtesy of Anne Simonet) Edward Simonet, a longtime criminal defense lawyer in Stillwater, never took a Saturday off from work. “He gave clients his home and cellphone number, and he’d be playing golf and talking to somebody who had gotten a DWI and wanted to know what they were supposed to do,” said his wife, Anne Simonet. “There weren’t any real boundaries like some people have.”
