Whipping winds are expected in the Rochester region Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
The Weather Service issued a wind advisory for Monroe, Ontario and Wayne counties, where sustained winds between 30 and 40 mph and
gusts up to 50 mph are predicted. The advisory runs between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. Friday.
While the wind is expected to pick up mid-morning, the strongest winds are predicted to hit the Rochester region in the evening, roughly between 6 and 9 p.m., said Weather Service Meteorologist Steve Welch.
Strong gusts could cause damage to some tree limbs or power lines and the area could experience some power outages.
