The Income Tax (IT) Department on Sunday has reported a significant increase in the number of Income Tax Returns (ITRs) filed this year compared to the previous year.As of 6 p.m. today, a total of 6 crore ITRs have been filed, surpassing the number of ITRs filed till 31st July last year.

Taxpayers can seek help from the income tax department through calls, live chats, Webex sessions and on social media.

The Income Tax Department on Friday tweeted that over five crore income tax returns had been filed till July 27 this year.
