The West Chicago community pulls together to help those displaced by Thursdays apartment fire.

DuPage County and the DuPage Foundation awarded $1.3 million in grants Tuesday to help address food, housing and mental health needs of county residents.

WeGo Together for Kids, an organization that works with 60 partner agencies to help families in West Chicago, is one of the groups to receive a grant this year through the Daily Herald Neighbors in Need fund in partnership with the McCormick Foundation.

For the second year, the Daily Herald is partnering with the Robert R. McCormick Foundation to raise money for charitable organizations that address hunger, homelessness and health care disparities in the suburbs.

The West Chicago Elementary School District 33 School Board held a meeting to bring three new administrators into its team: a principal, an assistant principal and a coordinator of partnerships.
