Northwestern exceeds $1 billion for 2023 research

Northwestern exceeded $1 billion in annual research funding for the first time in fiscal year 2023, the University announced Thursday.  At the close of the fiscal year on Aug. 31, NU had received more than 3,800 awards totaling $1.007 billion pre-audit, a 9% increase from the previous year, the school said in a Thursday news.

NU names Ted Sargent co-executive director of Trienens Institute

McCormick and Weinberg Prof. Ted Sargent will serve as co-executive director of the Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy effective immediately, Northwestern announced Tuesday. Sargent will work alongside chemistry Prof. Michael Wasielewski, who currently serves as executive director of the institute. Sargent joined NU in 2021 after serving as vice president of research.
