Keren Hilgendorf, Ph.D., assistant professor of biochemistry at University of Utah Health, has been named a 2023 Pew Scholar for her work elucidating how stem cells use an antenna-like appendage called a primary cilium to integrate the molecular signals that regulate their fate.
A University of Utah Health-led multi-institutional research center that studies the inner workings and vulnerabilities of HIV, the human immunodeficieny virus that causes AIDS, recently received a five-year, $28 million grant renewal from the National Institutes of Health.

Beckerle is among 120 newly elected members announced in a press release during the annual meeting of the National Academy of Sciences.
Election as a member in this organization is widely accepted as a mark of excellence in scientific achievement and is considered one of the highest honors a scientist can receive. Of its more than 2,400 current members, approximately 190 have received a Nobel Prize, according to the National Academy of Sciences.
