Soon after her expulsion, Moitra read her statement on Parliament premises and said, "This Lok Sabha has also seen the weaponisation of the Parliamentary committee. Ironically the Ethics Committee which was set up to serve as a moral compass for members, instead it has been abused egregiously today to do exactly what it was never meant to do, which is to bulldoze the opposition and become another weapon to thok do (crush) us into submission."
While talking about the security breach, Mamata Banerjee, on her way to New Delhi today, said, "It was a grave security lapse in the new Parliament. This is a very serious matter. Let them [Centre] investigate the matter. We don t compromise our security. Our leaders raised their voices against this but they were suspended. Derek O Brien, including 14 other Opposition MPs were suspended from the Parliament for raising this issue," Banerjee iterated.
Calling Mahua Moitra ‘a victim of circumstances’, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also said she was happy that the INDIA alliance partners stood with TMC MPs and protested her expulsion.
During a media address on Monday, the West Bengal CM stated that her party was not informed about the INDIA bloc s intention to convene a session in New Delhi.
