Eksplozija se dogodila u trenutku kada se autobus nalazio blizu ulaza u dobro utvrđeno stambeno naselje Republikanske garde na zapadu sirijske prestonice, prenosi Rojters pozivajući se na sirijsku novinsku agenciju SANA.
Izvor, koji je tražio da ne bude imenovan, potvrdio je ranije agenciji da je najmanje deset ljudi povređeno u ovom incidentu.
Prema agenciji SANA, iako se ne isključuje da je u pitanju ciljani napad, informacije izvora na mestu eksplozije ukazuju da je došlo do kvara koji je zapalio rezervoar za benzin.
