Falmouth Coastguard Operations Centre was called for help just before midday today (Saturday). It was over a dog that had fallen over the cliffs at Western Cove, near Portreath. Coastguard rescue teams from Portreath and St Agnes were scrambled, meeting at the scene. One of the cliff rescue technicians from the Portreath Coastguard volunteers was lowered over the edge of the cliff, to access the animal at the bottom. However, a Portreath Coastguard spokesperson said: It had sadly had not survived the fall. The pet was recovered to the top of the cliff, to be returned to its owners. Reporting the news on its Facebook page, Portreath Coastguard Rescue Team shared a poster giving general advice for when walking dogs, saying: Taking the dog for a walk? Stay away from cliff edges and keep your dog on a lead.
