LEXINGTON — On Memorial Day of last year, 21-year-old Stanton native Kayla Lacy kicked off the summer season by spending the day out on the river kayaking with some friends.
A freak accident left 21-year-old Kayla Lacy with a severed spine, shattered vertebra and paralyzed from the chest down. She's been working with UKHealthCare's Outpatient Therapy Clinic twice a week to regain her strength, and in January was named the 2023 Ms. Wheelchair Kentucky to advocate for those with disabilities of all kinds across the state.
