Scammer masquerading as cop targets Whitsunday resident

Minutes later, the Whitsunday resident received a call and their phone showed it was coming from Whitsunday Police Station. The call was answered and another man, who said he was a police officer, repeated the same information about the resident’s tax file number. Again, the resident refused to provide any information. The scammer swore and abused the resident before the call ended. The resident contacted the Whitsunday Police Station where officers confirmed the incident was an attempt to scam money and identifying information from the resident. Two people injured after separate Whitsunday car rollovers

Premium Content Emergency services attended two separate car rollovers in Whitsunday overnight Sunday. A man was taken to Proserpine Hospital in a stable condition following a single-vehicle rollover on Shute Harbour Rd and Rifle Range Rd in Cannon Valley at 3.20am. In another incident, a woman was injured after a car crashed down an embankment on Mandalay Rd about 9pm. She was taken to Proserpine Hospital in a stable condition with neck pain. Premium Content Subscriber only A teenager will spend another two weeks in jail after breaching her bail the day after she was released from police custody and committing a string of other offences. Amber Josephine Flack appeared by videolink in Bowen Magistrates Court on Tuesday. Police prosecutor Sergeant Emma Myors told the court Flack was given bail with the condition that she live at a Bowen address and be fitted with a tracking device the day after being released from custody in December. However, the court heard Flack never showed up at Whitsunday Police Station to have the device fitted and could not be found at her bail address.
