WICKLOW Mountains National Park wishes to advise walkers and visitors that the car park at the Old Hero Mines, Glendassan on the Wicklow Gap road will be closed for up to eight weeks to facilitate essential works.

Our test car this week has had a curious history. Initially unveiled in 2013, the all-electric Volkswagen e-up! was the German car maker’s first production electric car and went on sale in Ireland early in 2014. With a claimed range of 150km, the small city car could recharge to 80pc within 30 minutes but there was very little demand for electric cars 10 years ago; a mere 49 were sold in 2013 and 220 in 2014.
