A judge has denied a group of restaurants' request to lift a vaccine mandate in place for Minneapolis, which requires the businesses to check vaccine cards.

A Hennepin County judge denied a request from a group of Minneapolis restaurant and bar owners for the court to temporarily halt enforcement of the city’s new requirement that customers show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative test. 

A group of restaurant and bar owners sued the city over its new rule that customers must show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test in order to dine in.

The case is raising questions about how much authority the city has to enact emergency measures during the pandemic. The judge presiding over the case didnt issue a ruling Wednesday but promised to do so "as soon as I can."
