Rolling Meadows police have stepped up patrols along the busy Kirchoff Road corridor following at least two serious crashes in the last month and a half.
As a result, they issued about 100 citations for speeding and other violations in May alone.
I definitely understand the concern of the residents that live on Kirchoff or around that area, Police Chief John Nowacki told aldermen last week, referencing a number of phone calls and emails from concerned residents to Ward 4 Alderman Jenifer Vinezeano.

The newly elected Palatine Township Board was sworn into office on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the Palatine Township Center. Joining the newly elected board were family, friends, dignitaries as well as the outgoing officials.
Incumbent Andy-John G. Kalkounos, who was previously a trustee, was sworn in as the new Township Supervisor. Clerk Lisa Moran will begin her fourth term, while Assessor Terry Kelly will start his fifth term. Aaron B. Del Mar will begin his second term as Highway Commissioner. One sitting trustee, Bill Pohlman, who was first elected in 2013, will begin his third term. Newcomers, A. Christine Svenson, Leslie M. Bolanos, and Michael C. Smolka, will begin their first elected terms in office as trustees.

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL A 29-year-old man was killed early Monday after his car left a roadway and crashed through three yards in Arlington Heights. The accident happened at around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of S Reuter Drive.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, was driving a 2021 black Toyota 4Runner at a high rate of speed northbound on Wilke Road, from Algonquin Road, according to police and first reported by WLS-TV. As the vehicle reached the area of Wilke and W Kirchoff roads, it left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The car continued across Kirchoff Road, entered a backyard, tumbled end over end, and landed in the 600 block of S Reuter Drive.
An off-duty Chicago police officer was killed early Monday morning when a speeding SUV he was driving struck a utility pole then plowed into the backyard of an Arlington Heights home, throwing him and a passenger from the vehicle, police said.
