BAY CITY, MI - Several new businesses coming to Bay City have city officials looking for ways to prepare financially against losses from the possibility of large unpaid utility bills.
During its Tuesday, Jan. 19 virtual meeting, the Bay City Commission opted to receive two ordinance amendments for a first reading that deal with instituting deposits for commercial utility customers who are expected to incur monthly bills past a threshold of $50,000. The ordinance amendments will be presented at the next commission meeting on Feb. 1 for a second reading and possible adoption.
