From day one of the season to the final out some two-and-a-half months later in August, Jack Salmon got the full experience of life as a Ridgefield Raptors baseball player last summer.

It’s a natural human tendency to not value something until it’s gone. Not this time. They were so grateful that a newspaper was there to keep them informed. They saw what journalism, at its best, could do for a community. I hoped the lesson would last in the public’s consciousness.
