Will Eisner Comic Awards Hall News Today

Hayao Miyazaki's beloved watercolor manga "Shuna's Journey" has won an Eisner Award. The U.S. edition was translated by Alex Dudok de Wit and published by First Second Books, an imprint of Macmillan. Miyazaki's latest film: "The Boy and the Heron," the legendary director's latest feature film, recently set a record with the biggest opening weekend of any Studio Ghibli production in Japan despite minimal marketing efforts.

Judges have announced 11 deceased comics pioneers and 4 living creators to be inducted into the 2023 Will Eisner Hall of Fame.

Japanese comics have become an undisputed juggernaut of the publishing industry.
