Seth May 11th, 2021 at 1:11 PM Well, finally. Sam Webb, Chris Balas, and others are reporting Michigan has come to terms with Kentucky defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale to be the Wolverines new defensive pass game coordinator and defensive backs coach. Michigan had one name on everybody’s lips when co-DC/cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist, hired just last January, couldn’t pass up an opportunity to be the head coach of Buffalo. It was the same name bandied about before Linguist was hir...

View Comments Maurice Linguist says his decision to leave Michigan football to become the head coach at Buffalo was difficult — but the opportunity was not one that he could pass up.  “Obviously, any time you make a transition, the recruits and the student-athletes and the coaches and the community that you’re part of, it’s always difficult,” Linguist told reporters Monday morning. “But this was just too good for me not to investigate and be a part of. As hard as it was to leave ...

How bad the fallout will be depends on which replacement coach Michigan can get in this late hour. Here are the gentlemen Michigan could take a swing at. Well tackle some of the big names first and if were still shopping later this week Ill hav...

Those who leave... ... he just happens to be winless, too. Just four months after he was hired to help fix the Wolverine defense, co-defensive coordinator Mo Linguist is leaving Michigan to become the head coach at Buffalo. Based on the rumblings from the recruiting circles, it seems this will almost certainly cause five-star cornerback commit Will Johnson (a one-time top Ohio State target) to reconsider his future with the Wolverines. You just hate to see that. “Beat his ass” in.....

Buffalo hires Michigan co-DC Maurice Linguist as head coach By 13 Comments Linguist, 37, was hired as Michigan’s co-defensive coordinator in January. The Dallas native worked in the NFL for one season as the Cowboys’ secondary coach in 2020. Linguist previously worked at Buffalo from 2012-13 as the Bulls’ defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach. His resume also includes coaching gigs at Texas A&M, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Iowa State and James Madison. Leipold, 5...

Shit. A crack recruiter, Linguist’s hire was the first widely regarded sign of hope that Harbaugh could turn the program around following last year’s 2-4 season. Linguist helped them secure commitments from legacy five-star Will Johnson and TN 4* Kody Jones for the 2022 class, and as of last week the Wolverines appeared to have a strong chance with several more elite athletes in the secondary. Most likely the fallout from today has changed that position significantly, especially with Jones...

Tuesday Recruiting Gets a Hundred Fakes Seth May 4th, 2021 at 2:58 PM Michigan’s closing in on prospects at some positions of need, and adding guys to the board at a lot of spots where they’re less sure of their top options. So let’s check in on recruiting before this post gets pushed down by another Hello or Goodbye. The 2022 recruiting board lives here. Quarterback CA 3* Nate Johnson got a crystal ball from 24/7’s Sam Webb and a FutureCast from Rivals’s EJ Holland recently. Johnson...

UPDATED: Sunday, 1:10 a.m.: This story has been updated throughout with the final results and comments. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson bet the second half of his first four-year term on flipping two City Council seats held by members with whom he has battled during the last year. He appeared to have lost that gambit. Neither candidate he endorsed — Yolanda Faye Williams in District 5 and Donald Parish Jr. in District 7 — dealt a fatal blow to incumbents Jaime Resendez and Adam Bazaldua, accordi...
