The Kansas City, Kansas-based union’s executive council had voted to oust Newton Jones for allegedly misusing union funds for personal gain — including funneling large sums of money to his Ukrainian wife for work she never performed.
“The parties have demonstrated an unusual capacity for mischief, leading the Court to determine that time is of the essence,” a federal judge said in an order issued Tuesday involving the Boilermakers union.
“They have created a smear campaign against me and against my wonderful wife,” said Boilermakers International President Newton Jones. “This is really the ugliest part of this union.”
