Cowdrey Hamlet, a former watch man from the Central Leeward Town of Layou, is taking life one day at a time, in the hope that his problems will be over one day soon.
In any event, he has to wait until the COVID-19 eases so as to allow settlement in an industrial matter he has before the Labour Department.
Hamlet worked with Concrete Aggregates Ltd. from August 17, 2008. He provided watchman services at the Company’s operation located in the interior area of the Mt. Wynne estate referred to as ‘Jill Bay’. He has since been relieved of his position.
MP wants pardon for ganja convicts
Nigel Stephenson, MP for South Leeward, wants a pardon for those currently serving sentences for marijuana.
By: William Kojah Anthony•
Nigel Stephenson, a three-time Parliamentary Representative for South Leeward, is calling on this country’s government to commute the sentences of persons convicted for marijuana-relate charges.
He made his position known last Tuesday as he contributed to the 2021 Debate of the 2021 Appropriate Bill/Budget.
His appeal came in light of the presence of the coronavirus/COVID-19 disease here, to which, he said, prisoners serving sentences for marijuana-related charges are exposed.
The MP’s concern comes as a drive to establish a Medical Cannabis Industry here is gathering speed.
