Debris that appeared earlier on australian satellite images. then theres this, a visual spotter doing a fly-over and one of these australian planes says he saw several small objects, including a wooden pallet, floatifloat ing wind twithin the defined search area. attached to the planes black box. Far it is, when it gets there, it will have some on-station time left. and that on-station time is where it can do a pattern search going back and forth and recover that box or a chunk of water. so it is encouraging. were getting some pretty good ranges out there. im encouraging that were now covering the southern sector which at first it wasnt covered very well by assets. so you know every day that goes by and we cover another 15,000 square miles, its a positive. >> commander, good luck to you....

So you have that circle, that radius there of search capability. and then really whats a game changer is today we have a mission with our latest technology in mixed-wing search aircraft. the most advanced search aircraft in the world. that range is into the thousands of miles. so thats land-based. going to take off from kuala lumpur area. that is looking west. so the initial track will look to the west. it will fly that direction, see what it sees with its surface search radar, and then fly back...
