A judge began hearing evidence Monday to determine if five men will face trial for their alleged roles in a plot to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Five of the 14 men charged over the alleged plot to kidnap Whitmer are facing hearings in northern Michigan this week to decide whether there's enough evidence to proceed to trial.

Just before breaking for lunch, the defense, called the prosecution "bush league" and the witness a "puppet monkey."

The defendants face charges of supporting a terrorist act, gang membership, and carrying a firearm in the commission of a felony.
