Williston Mayor Howard Klug was back at the most recent Board of City Commissioners meeting last Tuesday.

Mayor Howard Klug announced the decision to keep Shawn Wenko as the city administrator during a press conference Tuesday, two weeks after the final interviews were conducted.

The Williston Square development welcomed two new businesses in 2022. City leaders have promised more are on the way, but not as fast as they would have liked.

Sanford will soon come to terms with the city of Williston on an agreement that cements the project's timeline and financing, but the plan is to break ground on the clinic next spring and have it open by the end of 2023, said Sanford Bismarck CEO and President Dr. Michael LeBeau. A hospital with about 50 beds will come later, though the project's price tag and timeline have not yet been determined, he added. 

The recent announcement that Sanford plans a partnership with the city of Williston, N.D., to build a clinic and hospital is an example of a growth strategy that will focus on the health system's existing service territory.
