Sarah Swedburg has served as the Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Business development manager since May 2021. She has accepted a planner position with Bolton and Menk based out of the St. Cloud office.

The Willmar City Council on Monday in a split vote approved a resolution recommending that the Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Economic Development Commission reconsider its name change for rebranding purposes.

In November, the Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Economic Development Commission joint powers board approved shortening the EDC name to Kandiyohi County Economic Development, leaving "Willmar" out of the new name.

As part of its rebranding strategy and pending the approval of the EDC Joint Powers Board, the name will go from nine words to four — Kandiyohi County Economic Development.

During a recent presentation to the Kandiyohi County and City of Willmar Economic Development Commission, consultant Barbara Marks of Engan Associates told the Joint Powers Board that it needs to figure out potential partnerships and programming needs before moving forward with a new location.
