Sebastian Arevalo, the man accused of shooting at a Willmar police officer last summer, has pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Adrian Medina, 16, made his first appearance Friday as a certified adult in Kandiyohi County District Court. He faces two counts of attempted murder and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon. Medina was identified by an adult male witness as the alleged shooter in a Willmar shooting reported Aug. 27, 2022.

Christian Arevalo has pleaded guilty to one felony charge of first-degree assault on a peace officer, as an accomplice after the fact. He was not alleged to have been the shooter in the July 5 incident in southwest Willmar but accused of being the getaway driver and of obstructing the investigation.

No one was injured early Tuesday after Willmar police received reports of possible gunshots in the 300 block of Lakeland Drive Southeast. Police interviewed witnesses and collected several shell casings at the scene. The case remains under investigation.
