Sixty years ago, on the weekend of May 20 and 21, 1961, Main Street got a major makeover. A dynamic group — mostly women — decided to spruce up the town and petitioned everyone from the Rockefellers on down to help pay for it.

Main Street Marketplace, Spring Edition, is coming to Tonge Row every Saturday in April from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Presented by the Ellicott City Partnership, the Little Market Cafe and the Park Ridge Creamery, the market features local businesses, craftsmen and artisans.

The Howard County Library System is offering a workshop called Senior Living and Care Options on the fourth Monday of the month at 10 a.m. through May 23, 2022.

Joseph O'Neill, 2009 PEN/Faulkner Award winner for fiction, is the featured author at the Howard County Poetry Literature Society's Evening of Irish Music and Poetry on Feb. 19.
