Schools striving for some normalcy for year-end events

After last year’s anti-climatic graduation season, school officials are going to great lengths to organize end-of-year activities this spring that hopefully will capture, at least to a limited degree, the magic of those moments and define one of life’s biggest turning points.
Events like proms and graduations will be similar, but not the same. COVID is lifting, but it isn’t gone.
Using the federal and state guidelines as starting points Laconia and Gilford high schools have come up with plans that they feel strike the right balance between a celebration to remember at a time when restraint is still the watchword. Face masks and social distancing will be required.
Meredith prepares for town meeting
March 03, 2021MEREDITH Town Meeting is on March 9, and town officials are getting ready from putting safety measures in place to making planning some budget changes from the floor.
Meredith will hold an in-person town meeting on Wednesday, March 9, at Inter-Lakes High School with several protective measures. Town manager Phil Warren updated the selectmen during Monday s meeting on what town meeting would look like this year.
Voting is scheduled for March 9 and will take place with social distancing, masking recommendations, and protective screens for poll workers. Warren said these measures worked well for the elections last year.
Moultonborough, Sandwich postpone town meetings
February 24, 2021REGION Moultonborough and Sandwich have postponed their town meetings and elections to the spring going with the provisions of the governor s executive order allowing for municipalities to delay their voting from March to sometime in the spring or summer.
On Jan. 22, Gov. Chris Sununu issued Emergency Order #83 that allowed municipalities to delay their voting and town meeting days to April through July due to COVID-19 concerns.
Moultonborough and the Moultonborough School District have postponed its elections to May 11 and town and school district meeting to May 15. Sandwich will hold its town election on April 13 and town meeting will be on May 1.
