Shares of Wipro ended 1.33% lower at Rs 470.90 on BSE. Market cap of Wipro fell to Rs 2.46 lakh crore on BSE.

Wipro share price: The stock surged 5.16 to scale a one-year high of Rs 545. At this price, it has gained 54.90 per cent from its 52-week low value of Rs 351.85, a level seen on April 17 last year.

The Wipro scrip is currently valued at Rs 472.9 per share, and at roughly this value, the transferred shares will amount to a whopping Rs 483 crore. Tech magnate Azim Premji's son Rishad Premji currently helms Wipro as its Executive Chairman, and is a prominent face of the IT industry.

Shares of Wipro surged 13 percent in intra-day deals today to hit a fresh 52-week high of ₹526.45 as the companys December quarter earnings beat estimates even though it reported a decline in its net profit for the December quarter (Q3FY24).

In November last year, Wipro sued its former chief financial officer Jatin Dalal. The matter was referred to arbitration by the Bengaluru City Civil Court. Dalal was charged of violating the non-compete clause in his employment contract.

Wipro saw heavy trading volumes today as 17.77 lakh shares were last seen changing hands on BSE. The figure was way more than the two-week average volume of 3.46 lakh.

Wipro shares are up 1.8 per cent in 2023 so far compared with a 7.79 per cent rise in the BSE IT index during the same period. The stock has underperformed the IT pack amid muted set of quarterly results and weak guidance.

TCS, Infosys, Wipro: Nuvama said Cognizant’s results were similar to large India IT Services companies where deal wins continued to be very strong while revenue growth remained soft.

This trend in investment in employee skilling at IT companies comes at the back of peaked  interest in generative AI among clients in the sector.
