Perez was diagnosed with cancer last year, successfully beating the disease after a year of fighting it, and according to “best friend, creative collaborator and business partner” Angilee Wilkerson, died from complications after contracting Covid-19. At the time of her death, Perez was Director of Operations at High Bandwidth, and before that Associate Professor of Graphic Design at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. Eva Carroll Monroe and the Lincoln Colored Home

Eva Carroll Monroe and the Lincoln Colored Home Mary Frances will discuss her documentary about Monroe, her parents, husbands and daughter, and highlight events during their lives including Reconstruction and Jim Crow laws. Mary Frances earned a BA in anthropology from the University of Iowa, a MA in environmental studies from the University of Illinois Springfield, and a PhD ABD in natural resources and environmental sciences from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is currently a college instructor in environmental science and an art business owner. Frances has been displaying her found art assemblages in group exhibits throughout the Midwest. Galleries which have shown her work include Woman Made Gallery in Chicago and Art St. Louis in St. Louis.
