WAILUKU Although a woman said her time in the Maui Community Correctional Center had “corrected me so much,” a judge found that didn’t appear to be the case and sentenced the defendant to a one-year jail term for trying to assault a man.
Kathy Koebberling, 57, also was placed on four years’ probation Wednesday.
She had pleaded no contest to attempted second-degree assault and two counts of fourth-degree criminal property damage.
Deputy Prosecutor Carson Tani said a man and his girlfriend were behind their vehicle in Wailea on May 11 when Koebberling approached them and started threatening the man. After he told her to leave, she tried to flatten the car’s tire with a sickle, Tani said.
